The time has arrived! Our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification begins in February, 2020.
Space is limited to 16 people, so sign up for this transformative year-long course now!

Yoga and mindfulness help us to bring greater health, vitality, awareness and joy to our lives. This comprehensive 9-month course will give you the tools, knowledge and experience to deepen your own yoga practice and help you to better share the practice with others as a teacher or facilitator. It will be a journey of personal growth and self-discovery, in a vibrant, supportive community with the caring stewardship that Sun and Moon Yoga is known for.

Graduates of the Sun and Moon 200-Hour Teacher Training will walk away with a thorough, concrete grounding in the fundamentals of yoga practice and teaching, with knowledge and skills in a variety of aspects of yoga. We will dive deep into philosophy, history, pose alignment, sequencing, anatomy, pranayama, Ayurveda, and teaching/business arts and ethics.

You will explore a range of techniques and tools that will give you skills and confidence in your ability to impart this knowledge, while discovering your own unique gifts in a safe, holistic and joyful way. You will be encouraged to investigate and explore your own habits, core beliefs, and approach to your daily practice.

The staff comes with over 60 years and tens of thousands of hours of combined experience in teaching and practicing yoga and meditation, as well as decades of business experience in the yoga field. Teachers include Leza Lowitz, owner of Sun and Moon Yoga (History, Philosophy, Meditation, Teaching Arts/Ethics), Em Bettinger, Head Teacher (Yoga Postures, Alignment, Pranayama), Yuko Goto, Senior Teacher and Teacher Trainer (Ayurveda), Noriko Genda, Master Bodyworker (Anatomy and Physiology.)

During this course, one class per week at Sun and Moon Yoga, Tokyo will be part of the package, in addition to the required TTC program. There will be journalling assignments, weekly homework, a teaching assistant assignment in a master class, and a final examination that includes a written exam and teaching practicum.

Our prior TTC programs sold out early, so we encourage you to enroll as soon as possible. Many of our graduates are now senior, respected teachers in Japan and abroad. Others enrolled for personal development and deepened their yoga journey in life-changing ways.

Whether you wish to teach or not, this 200-Hour TTC is suitable for you if you want to: understand the physical, emotional, spiritual and energetic workings and benefits of yoga and mindfulness, improve your wellness and vitality, deepen your own practice, connect with a supportive and engaged community of like-minded people, align your life with your deeper mission, evolve and grow on a personal level.

TTC is offered in English and Japanese with translation by master translators Kitty Hiromi Thompson and Yoriko Matsumoto. This course is open to anyone who has an interest in learning more about yoga or deepening your practice—even if you already have teaching certification.

Em Bettinger—Em was introduced to yoga while studying her dance degree in London, but it wasn’t until she needed a change in that she returned to deepen her practice and bring the foundations of yoga into her daily life 17 years ago.

She has travelled several times to study under her teacher, Paul Dallaghan at Samahita Retreat in Thailand and has studied with other teachers in Japan and overseas and is trained in Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow and Yin Yoga, while fortunate to have also studied under Shri O P Tiwari in pranayama.

yuko_ttcYuko Goto studied Yoga and Ayurvedic Therapy in Boulder, Colorado from 2008-2011. Upon returning to Japan, she came to the realization that her own personal practice had suffered due to prioritising teaching yoga and raising a family. She wanted more balance, so she decided to visit Sun and Moon Yoga in Meguro to start her own yoga practice in Japan. From the first moment she opened the door, she felt a warm and peaceful atmosphere. She was immediately drawn to the lively international community at the studio, and practicing at Sun and Moon became her passion. Yuko attended many TTCs and workshops with owner Leza Lowitz. She also studied with many talented teachers such as Em Bettinger, Ted Lafferty, Yvonne Jaques, Mira Shani, Jarret Levine and Lauren Peterson. In 2009 Yuko completed the Sun and Moon Restorative Yoga TTC with Leza Lowitz (and re-took the course in 2016 to refreshand is a Yoga Alliance Certified, Rasayana Yoga School E-RYT500 Yoga Instructor as well as a Yoga Alliance Certified YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider), training yoga teachers in Japan.
