Carla brings a sense of empowerment and fun, both physical and energetic, to every class. Through intention, humor, asana and pranayama, her goal is to have every student leave class feeling longer, leaner, refreshed and renewed, physically and energetically. Tai chi, also called Standing Zen Practice, has many elements, such as movement, breathing (Chi), concentration, and meditation. Beginners will be surprised at the depth of the practice–even though the movement is slow, there are many components.

We will practice 24-form Tai Chi and learn 2 forms each time. You can master 24 forms in three months. You will be able to practice Tai chi on your own with this sequences. Drop-ins welcome anytime.

oshika_library2When Sun and Moon Yoga opened in Tokyo over a decade ago, we put Community classes on the schedule, where all the profit would be donated to charity. People said it would never fly in status-conscious Japan. Of course, we didn’t listen….Sun and Moon Yoga’s COMMUNITY Class funds helped to open this library in Oshika, a town that was devastated by the tsunami on 3-11-11, thanks to Caroline Pover’s efforts and the efforts and contributions of many. Now many young kids and all members of that community can have books to read and a quiet, clean, warm, homey place to enjoy them–and a garden! Thanks, Tokyo Yoga Community and Em Bettinger, who teaches the popular Community classes. Let’s keep walking the talk!

This is particularly sweet for Leza, as when she was a teenager herself (19) she worked at Barnes & Noble’s flagship store in Manhattan as a bookseller to help pay her way through college and support her dream of becoming a writer.

About Jet Black & The Ninja Wind
Seventeen-year-old Jet Black is a ninja. There’s only one problem—she doesn’t know it. Others do, however, and they’re scheming to capture her and uncover her secrets. When her mother dies, Jet must go to Japan to protect a family treasure hidden in her ancestral land. She’s terrified, but if Jet won’t fight to protect her world, who will? Stalked by bounty hunters and desperately in love with the man who’s been sent to kill her, Jet must be strong enough to protect the treasure, preserve an ancient culture, and save a sacred mountain from destruction. To emerge triumphant, can she become the ninja wind?

Find out in Book One of the Kuroi Clan trilogy. Keep an eye out for the movie version, coming to a theater near you!

“Adventure, fantasy, ancient wisdom, and imminent danger–Jet Black meets them all head on. Like The Hunger Game’s Katniss Everdeen, she’s a fighter with heart. A new teen hero has arrived.” —Barry Lancet, author of Japantown
